New Land

In the Old Testament, the book of Joshua is about the conquest of land; the conquest of completely new territory. Over and over in chapter 1 God tells Joshua to be strong and courageous. Joshua was with Moses when the glory of God covered Mount Sinia and He wrote on tablets of stone, and “now” he needs strength and courage!? Why? He needs to hear it because he is about to enter new territory.

Joshua 1:9b “Be strong and courageous! Do not tremble or be dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.”

We are heading into new territory. It will look like something we haven’t seen before. We will need to be strong and courageous to step into the “new”, but God will prove Himself faithful. “The Lord will fight for you; you need only to be still.” Ex. 14:14

Then towards the end of Joshua 1, God says to Joshua, “Remember the word which Moses the servant of the Lord commanded you, saying, ‘The Lord your God gives you rest, and will give you the land.’” Joshua 1:13

Prayer: Lord, thank You that as we enter new territory we can be strong and courageous because You will fight for us and You will give us rest. You are always sufficient; always enough. We bless You today. Amen.
